The true spellcaster is my least favourite character. In the skill overview of the Diablo 3 Wizard I noticed something different however. This lead to the following character build idea.
The Melee Wizard.
The Melee Wizard uses his (or her) magical power to increase its own physical
fighting skills. This build will actually fight instead of using powerfull
skills from a safe distance. A one-handed weapon and a shield will be good
equipment for this build. Most of the skills for the Melee Wizard will be
passive, but they will all come from the Conjuring
talent tree. We will need the Magic Weapon skill, which
will increase the damage the Wizard can do.
Further we will need Weapon Mastery, a passive skill that
also increases the damage of our handweapon. To have more effects from our
hits this build will need the Armor Piercing skill. This
will decrease the armor of hit enemies. Another important skill for our
Melee Wizard is Stone Skin. Stone Skin will make the Bodybuilder
harder to kill. And with Damage Resistance this build can
increase his defences even further. the Wizard probably can't wear the heaviest
armor available so these skills could make up for that.
Additional skills could be more melee related such as Slowing Strikes.
More defence related skills are also available. Think about Conjured
Armor. The Wizard can increase his chance to block, which is most
certain a big help. The Mirror Image spell could also be
a great and fun addition. Increasing the amount of Wizard-warriors on the
screen!
